Olly, The Virtual Reality Bus Experience update July/August
Dust and isolation. It's dead quiet, cold, and dark. The tough little 4x4 virtual reality experience bus called Olly has pulled up for the night in a remote section of the Sandover Track between Allpururalam and Ampilatwatja.
Olly is on his way to Alice Springs for the start of the 2018 NT Careers Expo which will take him up through Tennant Creek, Katherine and Darwin before heading home to Cairns via Minyerri, Borroloola and Burketown.
Olly and his 2 crew have just delivered the very novel and all embracing careers based VRE information session to 40 truly enthusiastic and excited students at Allpururulam. The middle of "nowhere".
Olly has reached out to these very remote and resource poor communities for almost three years, crossing some of Australia's most rugged and stunningly beautiful landscapes in the making.
He is fearless, persistent and a proven hit with anyone fortunate enough to have climbed aboard and explore his impressive array of educational technology and equipment.
As Olly signs off from his three year grant funding obligations, he remains ready and ever vigilant in his pursuit to bring cutting edge technology to some of Australias most out of the way and often neglected populations.
Well done Olly!
Thousands of young, old, rich, poor, city, rural and remote people salute you. You are: one of a kind.
